While Paris is typically known for its croissants and crepes, the American-born cupcake craze has found its way to the City of Lights. Simply iced and sprinkled cupcakes are a thing of the past, as the creative designs and flavors of pioneers like Magnolia Bakery and Crumbs in NYC have become a trendy treat.
First hosted in San Francisco, Cupcake Camp has gone global and it only seems fitting that Paris will hold its first-ever camp this July 4 as an homage to the treat's American roots. Both amateur and professional bakers are invited to come together with their homemade cupcakes at Bistrot Vivienne.
While some will participate just to nibble, others enter in competitions ranging from “Most Patriotic” to “Best Pop Culture Cupcake.” Expect appearances from several established cupcakers, including Little Miss Cupcake and Bryan Pirolli from the new American bakery, Merce and the Muse.
The sweetest part about Paris’ Cupcake Camp? Proceeds from the €10 entry fee will go to Rebuilding Haiti Now, a relief organization dedicated to rebuilding schools and homes after the earthquake earlier this year.
Be sure to register your cupcakes by June 25, but even if you don’t plan on baking, head to the event's Facebook page to RSVP.
