Perhaps some of the best things can’t last forever—or at least that’s what Starr Restaurants of Philadelphia has in mind. On June 29, the former Washington Square space will be transformed in to a pop-up of Talula’s Table, an acclaimed gourmet market that serves nightly farmhouse table dinners in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, about an hour outside Philadelphia. (By bringing the country to town, the meals are sort of the opposite of Square 1682's city-to-farm feasts.)
The ephemeral “pop-up” of Aimee Olexy’s celebrated restaurant will only last from June 29 to July 1 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and will feature over a dozen dishes, as well as cheese and sweets, all cooked up by executive chef Matthew Moon. Indulge in a smoked scallop ravioli with sweet pea sauce or a saucy duck and cherries, served alongside seasonally appropriate wines, beers, and cocktails.
Limited-time dining is becoming a trend across the country, with pop-ups like Mission Street Food taking over a San Francisco Bay-area Chinese restaurant every Thursday to host guest chefs and Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Vietnamese Bep moonlighting in a French café three nights a week.
