New York City's Taxi Gourmet

In addition to tracking down stats for Condé Nast Traveler's Deputy News Editor and keeping an eye on Tech in Review's borrowed iPad, intern Kira Lerner has time to suss out tasty eats. Here's her latest find:

"Layne Mosler rarely knows where her next meal is coming from.  That decision is up to her cab driver.  Mosler writes a blog, Taxi Gourmet, where she chronicles her adventures discovering cabbie hotspots throughout New York City.  The premise: she gets in a taxi, asks the driver to take her to his (or her) favorite restaurant, and then chats out about his life on the way. Previously adventuring in Buenos Aires, Mosler moved to NY and became a licensed NYC cabbie to better relate to her drivers.  Her blog now features her stories from behind the wheel combined with her culinary quests.  Her NY favorites? Papaye for Ghanaian in the Bronx and Cherry Hill Gourmet Market for Russian specialties in Brighton Beach—'It changed my mind about Russian food,' she says."

This is a very interesting method for finding a restaurant. Trying to pick a place to eat is always a challenge in New York...too many choices. I will have to check this blog out before my next visit to the city. http://www.fivestarnewyorkhotels.com
