Meal of the Moment: Luke's Lobster, New York

New York's Luke's Lobster has fast become a Traveler favorite for its marvelous but cheap ($14!) lobster rolls. (The Cityist got her Maine fall fix there recently.) "Luke's secret?" asks the Cityist, a.k.a. senior editor Kate Maxwell. "A Maine-made hot dog bun, a scrape of butter, a sprinkle of herbs and a slick of mayonnaise—oh and claw meat straight from the family lobster business in Maine." Had we been hungry enough when we graced cutie Luke's bar stools a few weeks ago (Porchetta is right across the street, and we were naughty with the crispy potatoes and burnt ends), we would have tried something new: the "Taste of Maine" plate, which gives you small lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls, a pair of empress claws, chips and a drink for 20 bucks.

Luke's Lobster, 93 E. 7th St., near First Ave.
