Addendum: Beyond Gin & Tonics in Boston

As any Bostonian worth their swizzle stick can tell you, Beantown has plenty of great drinks—I just wasn’t looking in the right places. Since I left, I have been back to visit and I have drank very, very well. I love settling in at the bar at Eastern Standard, where the list has original concoctions like Papi’s Punch, a beachy tribute to Sox star David Ortiz, as well as the classics. Tony Maws’s new French cooking at Craigie on Main is rich and exciting, but I’m often tempted to hang out in the lounge with bartender Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli and watching him tweak new recipes. Last time I was there he convinced me to try a squash juice-based cocktail and it was surprising, and delicious. Lately, I beeline across the river to Drink to hang out with Misty Kalkofen, a Harvard Divinity School grad turned cocktail maven. For more ideas on drinking in Boston, check out drinkboston.com.
